Adjective Examples

Adjective Examples Adjective An adjective is a word that modifies, or gives more information about, a noun or pronouns. Adjectives give us information such as which one, what kind, or how many. There are several types of adjectives: 1. Numbers and colors often function as adjectives. Make sure that the sentence does not use the number or color as a noun-rather the number or color is giving us more information about a person, place, or thing. 2. Articles (a, an, the) are considered adjectives. These words are often part of a noun phrase. 3. Demonstrative adjectives (this, that, these, those) help to specify which person, place, or thing. Be careful! Just like numbers and colors, these words can also function as nouns in a sentence. 4. Interrogative adjectives (which, what, whose) help to specify to which person, place, or thing a question is referring. Examples of Adjective: The following phrases contain examples of adjectives. the blue shirt    many people   seven swans cheese pizza    small dog        loud music fast car       broken chair      large, red truck which bus      that duck       those eggs
